Let’s Talk About Your Skin

Today on Twitter I saw a tweet from a friend about how she “hit her prime sophomore year of high school.” The tweet had a photo attached, and I couldn’t help but look. This girl is still (and probably will always be) beautiful inside and out, but part of me knows how she feels.

My skin looked much healthier and clearer in high school too. As crazy as it is, I didn’t even have a skin routine in high school. I didn’t wash my face, and I probably used oily, pore-clogging face lotion everyday. I didn’t wear makeup either, though.

When my skin started changing, I started playing around with different products and routines. I have good days and bad days, but I haven’t found products or a routine that satisfies. It seems to be a lifelong struggle too.

Once we pass the blemish phase, if we pass it, we embark on the wrinkle prevention phase, followed by the wrinkle and sun damage phase. With so many different products out there and different things to prevent, will we ever find bliss? Maybe. Perhaps if we stop stressing about our skin and the good ole days it will miraculously change back. Or maybe we just have to accept it for what it is, and realize it isn't the end of the world.

What are your thoughts? Do you have a skin routine that works or miracle products that you want to recommend? I’m all ears, and so are millions of other girls.
