In the Kitchen: Killer Sweet Popcorn

You know those nights when you want something to munch on and all you have is a jar full of popcorn kernels? But the problem is you don't want something salty, rather something sweet. Pouring butter, sugar and cinnamon all over the popcorn just isn't doing it for you; you want a change. That's where this recipe comes in. It's easy to make, and you have all the ingredients in your home.

I apologize in advance for providing you with a new addiction. Only make this recipe if you have a little quality called self control.

Killer Sweet Popcorn:
1/2 C. popcorn (unpopped)
3 T. unsalted butter
1/3 C. sugar
1 T. water
a few sprinkles of salt
sugar crystal sprinkles (optional)

Pop the popcorn however you wish, I used an air popper. Put the butter in a saucepan and once melted, add the sugar. Simmer until the sugar has melted (a couple of minutes) and add the water, stirring while adding. Drizzle the hot mixture over the popcorn while tossing to evenly coat. Sprinkle with the salt and sprinkles, then toss and refrigerate. Enjoy once cool and crisp, about 20 minutes.

This crunchy (if you add the sugar sprinkles), sweet treat is perfect for any movie night with your family or friends. We eat it while watching American Horror Story!
