Orange Almond Scones

For the past month or so our refrigerator has been on the fritz. No eggs, milk, cream or other necessary perishable baking ingredients.
Breakfast food is also difficult to come by when a fridge is acting up, so I turned to the baking cabinet and pulled out a just-add-water, plain scone mix. Add some orange zest, slivered almonds and a complimenting icing and breakfast is served. Recipe below!

Scone Recipe
Follow the directions on the scone mix, adding 1 tablespoon of fresh orange zest and 2 teaspoons almond extract. Before putting in the oven, top with sliced almonds, pressing down into the dough.

Icing Recipe
Fresh squeezed orange juice and powdered sugar to a desired consistency.
