San Francisco Thanksgiving
I spent this past Thanksgiving up in San Francisco with Alex. It was a big change from last year's Thanksgiving where we flew to the East Coast for a Kanye West concert, a wedding and lots of food and family. But since Alex couldn't get work off, it was our best option.
On Thanksgiving night we enjoyed a quiet dinner and split a bottle of wine at the restaurant where he works, followed by a holiday movie and dessert in his apartment. The whole trip turned out to be much better than either of us had expected.
I've visited San Francisco a few times since Alex moved there, so this time we avoided most of the tourist traps inside the city. Instead we took the ferry to Sausalito, and explored the little town. It was refreshing to see San Francisco from across the water while everyone inside the city searched for Black Friday deals.
We usually do a lot of walking when we travel. I enjoy the fresh air and finding little gems that we otherwise would have missed. He lives in the marina, which means cute boutiques, the Golden Gate Bridge and delicious restaurants are all nearby.
With the exception of going to Sausalito and spending a little time at the Ferry Building (my favorite!), we stayed in the marina. I think I enjoyed the peacefulness of the city on the weekend after Thanksgiving the most. It felt so comfortable and calm.
