Most children outgrow eczema, and in high school I thought I might because it grew to be so mild. Then senior year it flared up again, only this time on my face. I would actually tell my mom I wasn't going to school because my face looked so terrible, and she would let me stay home. . . I missed a lot of school that year. One of my worst flare ups ever occurred sophomore year of college when my grandpa was passing away. One steroid shot, some pills and a can of Crisco (yes, Crisco) later it cleared up.
I've definitely been around the block with eczema and done my experimenting with prescriptions, lotions and treatments. Although I'm sure I still have more products to test out, I've found a few products that help manage my skin at this point in time. And with winter coming these products should keep your skin hydrated and comfortable with or without eczema.
I linked to the products you can purchase below like Cetaphil Eczema Calming Lotion (a God send that eczema-free sisters obsess over) and Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream (I use it for my face, and it's worth the price). I try to drink a detox tea every night. I think it helps, but I have no proof. I also started doing a weekly oatmeal, honey and warm water face mask that is a fantastic skin soother and hydrater. As for prescriptions or oral soothers, I've tried benedryl, antihistamines, topical steroids, and a few natural remedies. Please contact me if you'd like the brands of my prescriptions, but I can't say I love them. I'm currently searching for face washes, so please share if you know of any. I hope these help you guys whether you have eczema or not!
